Our Pack
IO… Named for the switch on the back of a computer by her nerdy dad, IO is the alpha dog who runs the house. IO is a Kelpie/Heeler mix and has been with her dad since she was 3 months old. She is not a typical herding dog– she is very calm. She loves food, naps, bones, swimming and hiking. She has a few obsessions–she goes absolutely insane for her Frisbee at the beach, hates the snow shovel and adores snowshoeing. She has the sweetest nature and is the benevolent leader that rules our little pack.

Jackson… is a typical border collie who loooves his toys. Toys are the first thing that happen in the morning, the last thing that happens at night, and everything that happens in between. Jackson is super smart, but completely lacks common sense. He and IO are soul mates, he loves Dixie and tolerates the cats, but he is still not over the addition of Cheyenne. I adopted him at 6 months old and together we overcame his fear of stairs and riding in the car. He knows my every thought and feeling and epitomizes loyalty.

Cheyenne… We impulsively adopted Cheyenne after a health scare with IO made us face her and Jack’s mortality. She was a year old when we adopted her and had been surrendered twice. She seemed so calm that we actually questioned if she would “fit in.” We had no idea. We went through a very difficult adjustment period. Her emotional scars took a long time to begin to heal. She is naughty, destructive and hilarious. She brings unbelievable joy and laughter to our lives and entertains us every single day.

Dixie… Came to us just recently from a family member. She is a 6 year old “morkie”, a Maltese/Yorkshire terrier mix. We have known her since she was just an itty bitty 3 month old and we adore her! Jackson and her love each other, and I mean really, truly love each other. Before she came to live with us, she had a lot of nervous energy, and paced and barked continually, but hanging out with our little pack has mellowed her right out. She is loving going for walks, her treats, and her spot in the bed.

Baby Titten… Her real name is Mittens (she has 4 white paws) but when a friend’s son couldn’t say “kitten” she was rechristened forever. As a kitten, she was a terror, hell on paws. We called her Ninja Kitty. At the time we had just IO and Jack so she was convinced she was a dog too. When she finally figured out she is really a cat, she was devastated. Now Cheyenne tortures her by chasing, pawing and smooshing her and its hard to see it as anything but karma catching up with her.

Archie… a 17 pound orange Persian that we have had since he was 6 weeks old. We originally thought he was a girl and his name was almost Lily. Our only animal who isn’t exceptionally smart, every night when we go to bed, he cries because he doesn’t know where we are, and every night I say, “We’re in here Little Guy. Where we go every night when the lights go out.” He is one big ball of fur and sweetness.
